Asbestos Removal

Asbestos was a common component of materials used in houses and buildings prior to the year 2000.  Materials containing asbestos are classified as either being friable (easily crumbled) or non-friable, depending on how easily they will release fibres.

Friable asbestos needs to be removed under a Class A Licence, and more than 10m² of non-friable asbestos under a Class B Licence.  City Salvage Contractors are licenced to remove both types.

Where are asbestos materials found?

Materials containing asbestos are often found in:

  • soffits and gable ends;
  • house, garage and shed claddings;
  • decramastic roof tiles;
  • corrugated cement roofing;
  • textured ceilings;
  • flooring materials;
  • fuse boards;
  • hot water cylinders;
  • and many other places.

How to Identify Asbestos?

Asbestos materials must be identified before demolition work can take place.

The best way to  do this is by getting an Asbestos Demolition Survey carried out by a licenced asbestos assessor.  We are not licenced assessors but can help arrange a survey for you.

City Salvage Contractors are licenced professionals for removing both friable and non-friable asbestos.

We can remove asbestos containing materials as part of a demolition job or as a stand alone project.
